Softball Recap: Mcgill-Toolen Sets Scoring Season-High Against Davidson

McGill-Toolen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Davidson Warriors. One positive for the Yellowjackets, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Addie Arensberg and Presley Barber did some serious damage despite the final result: Arensberg scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Barber scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Barber a new career-high. Ansley Wellington also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Even though they lost, McGill-Toolen hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in five consecutive matches.

McGill-Toolen's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7-1. As for Davidson, the win keeps they at an undefeated 6-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McGill-Toolen will venture away from home to take on Baldwin County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Baldwin County's pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so McGill-Toolen's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Davidson, they will take on UMS-Wright Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
