Football Recap: Newman Takes a Loss

Newman had taken Riverside Academy down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Greenies fell 19-13 to the Rebels. The Greenies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

Newman's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Riverside Academy, they pushed their record up to 2-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Newman and Riverside Academy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings. The Greenies (ranked 63rd) will meet Wright (ranked 246th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Riverside Academy will take on Prairieville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (80 vs. 226).
