The Schroon Lake Wildcats will face off against the Bolton Central Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Schroon Lake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Schroon Lake took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 25-3 margin over Wells. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Logan Phillips was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Schroon Lake: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Schroon Lake got a massive performance out of Nathan Melville, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Melville a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Witherell, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.
Schroon Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Bolton Central fell victim to Johnsburg Central and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars. It was the first time this season that the Eagles let down their fans at home.
Schroon Lake's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Bolton Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Schroon Lake has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bolton Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
