Volleyball Game Preview: Berkeley Prep Buccaneers vs. Cardinal Mooney Cougars

The Berkeley Prep Buccaneers will face off against the Cardinal Mooney Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Berkeley Prep came up short against Carrollwood Day and fell 3-1. The Buccaneers haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Berkeley Prep actually scored more points across those four sets (94-93), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 17-25, 26-24, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Mooney entered their tilt with Bishop Verot last Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 3-1.

Cardinal Mooney had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-17, 25-15, 25-17.

Cardinal Mooney's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Berkeley Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Everything went Berkeley Prep's way against Cardinal Mooney when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Berkeley Prep made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Buccaneers repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
