The Senath-Hornersville Lions will take on the Doniphan Dons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Senath-Hornersville not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21st. They blew past Scott City 14-4. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Lions' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Kylie Walker made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Walker was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Senath-Hornersville let Mily Reyna and Lacey Lane run wild. Reyna went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run, while Lane scored a run while going 2-for-3. That triple was Reyna's first of the season. Halle Jamerson was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Senath-Hornersville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Scott City only posted a batting average of .118.
Meanwhile, Doniphan had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They never let the Whippets get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Dons, who have now won three matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Doniphan got a massive performance out of MaKenzie Taylor, who fired off three triples, two runs, and one RBI while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Dalila Watson, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Doniphan pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Senath-Hornersville, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
