Football Recap: Rubidoux Find Success

Rubidoux's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Temecula Prep Patriots by a score of 17-10. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Falcons also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Jesus Vasquez was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 153 yards and one TD while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Those 153 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Rubidoux's defense and their eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Bryan Castaneda-Sevilla and Junior Pena, who racked up four sacks between them. Another thorn in Temecula Prep's side was Jayden Espinoza, who picked up a sack and made nine total tackles.

Rubidoux's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Temecula Prep, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

After each having a week off, Rubidoux and La Sierra will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. This will be the Falcons' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Temecula Prep, they will face off against San Jacinto Valley Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots will be up against the Wolves' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.2 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
