Baseball Recap: Murphysboro Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Murphysboro proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by six) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Harrisburg Bulldogs 3-2. For the Red Devils, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

The team relied heavily on William Bess, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Mason Bastien was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Murphysboro's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-8. As for Harrisburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
