Volleyball Game Preview: Springfield Blue Devils vs. Steele Comets

The Springfield Blue Devils will take on the Steele Comets at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Springfield is coming into the game hot, having won their last 12 games.

On Thursday, Springfield made easy work of Northview and carried off a 3-0 victory.

While Springfield won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-18, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Steele beat Avon 3-1 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Comets.

Steele had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-12.

Steele now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Springfield, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's contest: Springfield has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 11.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Steele struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Everything went Springfield's way against Steele in their previous meeting back in March, as Springfield made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
