League recap: Jordan gets lift from Suchey's big bat

5A Area 12 league recap: 3/8/13

Garrett Suchey was on fire this week, as he led 5A Area 12 with a .519 average, one home run and 15 RBIs. Jordan compiled a record of 7-1 in that time.

The league's top pitcher this week was the Blue Devils' Orion Recke. Over the past week, he had two wins and 17 Ks.

Jordan's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only 41 hits and 21 walks, both of which led the league.

The Blue Devils, the league's stolen base leader this season with 39, added to their lead in that category with 18 more steals over the past week.

Three batters hit over .400 this week. They were led by Garrett Suchey, who hit .519 this week (14-for-27).

Jordan's Suchey is tearing up 5A Area 12 this season as he leads the league in average, hits and RBIs. This season Suchey has feasted on opponents pitching with a .510 average and 26 RBIs thanks to 25 hits.



Recke drove in six runners on Monday in the Blue Devils' 13-3 victory over Corner. He went 3-for-4 and scored zero runs.

Jordan's Suchey threw five shutout innings in a 13-0 win over Shades Valley on Thursday. He pitched five scoreless innings and struck out ten, while giving up zero hits.
