Wood Memorial took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Loogootee, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 18-16 victory over the Lions on Thursday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Trojans' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Wood Memorial's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Loogootee, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Coming up, Wood Memorial will welcome Dugger Union at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Loogootee, they will take on Springs Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: the Blackhawks will have lost three straight heading into Monday's game.
