Baseball Game Preview: Nordonia Knights vs. North Royalton Bears

Nordonia is 1-9 against North Royalton since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Knights will head out to take on the Bears at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Nordonia is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Stow-Munroe Falls.

Nordonia saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Leffel, who went 2-for-4 with one double.

Meanwhile, North Royalton didn't have quite enough to beat Mentor on Saturday and fell 5-4.

Jake Paluczak was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Quinn Costanzo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Jackson Cavanaugh also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

North Royalton's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-6. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.6 runs. As for Nordonia, their record is now 0-9.
