Humboldt hadn't done well against Neodesha recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Cubs won by a set and slipped past the Blue Streaks 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cubs.

Humboldt had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-20, 25-14.

Ricklyn Hillmon paced Humboldt's offense, picking up 11 kills. Hillmon were helped by Bailey Daniels and Lakyn Meadows, who contributed 15 assists each. Skylar Hottenstein controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Humboldt's win bumped their record up to 22-8. As for Neodesha, they moved to 24-5 with that defeat, which also ended their five-match winning streak.

Coming up, Humboldt will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Caney Valley. Neodesha will be paying especially close attention to the Cubs' match: after the Cubs face off against the Bullpups, they'll take on Neodesha again at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
