Volleyball Game Preview: St. John's Bluejays vs. New Bremen Cardinals

St. John is 0-10 against New Bremen since October of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Bluejays will head out on the road to take on the Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

On Monday, St. John's made easy work of Bath and carried off a 3-0 win. The Bluejays haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

St. John's not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Bath between 15 and 16 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-15, 25-16.

St. John's got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Morgan Weimerskirch out in front who had four aces and three digs.

Arcanum typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday New Bremen proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Trojans 3-0.

New Bremen walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-7, 25-17.

St. John's better keep an eye on Allie Bornhorst. She was instrumental in New Bremen's win, getting 12 assists and seven digs. That's the most digs Bornhorst has posted over her last eight matchups.

St. John's record now sits at 5-13. As for New Bremen, their record is now 17-2.

St. John's might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from New Bremen in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Bluejays avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
