Football Game Preview: Owen-Withee Blackhawks vs. Clayton Bears

The Owen-Withee Blackhawks will venture away from home to challenge the Clayton Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Owen-Withee sitting on three straight victories and Clayton on five.

Owen-Withee is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Lake Holcombe to the tune of 58-0 on Friday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Blackhawks with their most commanding win of the season.

Owen-Withee didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tegan Treankler and Will Simenson.

Meanwhile, Clayton got the win against Bruce on Thursday by a conclusive 62-40. Considering the Bears have won five games by more than 19 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Owen-Withee better keep an eye on Dayne Mumm. He was instrumental in Clayton's win, rushing for 175 yards and four scores while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Mumm didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Clayton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 462 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Owen-Withee's record now sits at 5-2. As for Clayton, their record is now 6-1.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Owen-Withee has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 280.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Clayton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 280.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Owen-Withee strolled past Clayton in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 36-22. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blackhawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
