Softball Recap: California Comes Up Short

After soaring to 11 runs the game before, California was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of the San Ramon Valley Wolves by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Grizzlies have suffered against the Wolves since March 16, 2023.

Audrey Cotton was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.

California's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for San Ramon Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-1-1 record this season.

California will host Dougherty Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dougherty Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.7 runs per game this season. As for San Ramon Valley, they will venture away from home to square off against Granada at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Granada also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 6.2 runs per game.
