Baseball Recap: Wellborn Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Wellborn ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Faith Christian Lions. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Jackson Clark made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

Clark wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ashton Woodard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Wellborn's record is now 4-7. As for Faith Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Wellborn Panthers face off against Randolph County Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Faith Christian, they will challenge Anniston at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
