Baseball Recap: Sunset Takes a Loss

Sunset fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Master's Academy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 8-7.

Jonalexander Rivera was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, AJ Cruz was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Sunset's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Christopher Gonzalez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Sunset dropped their record down to 6-9 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 3.57 runs. As for Master's Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
