Basketball Recap: Isaac Weiland's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cambria Heights over Conemaugh Valley

Cambria Heights was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost to the Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays on the road by a 57-43 margin. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-45 back in December of 2024.

Several Highlanders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaac Weiland, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Garrett Jasper, who posted seven points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Cambria Heights was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Conemaugh Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jeremy Dietz out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. The contest was Dietz's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Henry, who earned 16 points and six boards.

Cambria Heights' defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Conemaugh Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Cambria Heights didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-29 loss against Homer-Center on the 27th. Conemaugh Valley has also already played their next contest, a 60-53 defeat against Portage on the 25th.
