Recap: Animas Panthers vs. Cliff Cowboys/Cowgirls
The Animas Panthers lost against the Cliff Cowboys/Cowgirls back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Animas fell 50-37 to Cliff.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Laikyn Davenport, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Madisyn Rainer, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Animas' defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4. As for Cliff, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-1.
Animas will head out on the road to face off against Springer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Springer is ranked 62nd, while Animas is ranked 76th). As for Cliff, Cliff and Maxwell will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Maxwell is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
