Basketball Recap: Catholic Central Takes a Loss

Catholic Central lost against Madison Plains back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Catholic Central Irish were dealt a 54-27 loss at the hands of the Madison Plains Golden Eagles. The Irish just can't catch a break and have now endured five defeats in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Catholic Central lost, don't look at Danaysha Dearmond. Despite the final result, she posted 15 points and three steals. That was a full 55.6% of Catholic Central's points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Madison Plains got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kenzie Vallery out in front who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Stroup, who earned nine points along with six boards and five steals.

Catholic Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Madison Plains, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Catholic Central will square off against Dunbar at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dunbar will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Catholic Central surely won't give up without a fight. Madison Plains has already played their next match (against Liberty Union), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
