Basketball Recap: Jay County Gets the Win

Jay County won the last time they faced Southern Wells, and Natalie Carreno did her part to make sure it happened again. The Jay County Patriots strolled past the Southern Wells Raiders with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 52-34 thanks in part to Carreno, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 10 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Hallie Schwieterman was another key player, putting up 11 points and five boards. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Southern Wells lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ashlie Needler, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Paxson, who posted four points.

Jay County's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Southern Wells, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-6.

Jay County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-29 victory against Heritage on the 28th. Southern Wells has also already played their next match, a 53-35 defeat against Southwood on the 28th.
