Basketball Game Preview: Apollo Eagles vs. Union County Braves

Apollo is 7-1 against Union County since December of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Apollo Eagles will welcome the Union County Braves at 6:00 p.m. Apollo has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 25.

Apollo is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Owensboro Catholic on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Apollo had to suffer through a 66-24 loss at the hands of Owensboro Catholic. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-4.

Despite the defeat, Apollo saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Eriyah Curry went 5-for-8 en route to 14 points. The dominant performance gave Curry a new career-high in points.

Meanwhile, Union County came up short against Hopkins County Central on Monday and fell 57-50. The loss continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Storm: they've now lost five in a row.

Union County's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Apollo, their loss dropped their record down to 2-19.

Things could have been worse for Apollo, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-36 loss to Union County when the teams last played back in November of 2022.
