Baseball Recap: Enka Takes a Loss

Enka extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 4-11. They fell 8-5 to the Franklin Panthers. The Jets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Ty Aycock put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. He has become a key player for Enka: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-10 otherwise.

Aycock wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Hartman, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Franklin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.

On Franklin's side, the team relied heavily on Damion Bowles, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Bowles has posted since back in March. Isaiah Deas also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Coming up, Enka will face off against Asheville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Franklin, they will host Tuscola at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
