Soccer Game Preview: El Segundo vs. South

The El Segundo Eagles will head out to take on the South Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. El Segundo will be strutting in after a victory while South will be coming in after a loss.

El Segundo will bounce into Friday's match after beating Mira Costa, who they had gone 1-7-1 against in their nine prior meetings. The Eagles blew past the Mustangs 4-0 on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what El Segundo needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Meanwhile, South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Palos Verdes. That's two games in a row now that South have lost by exactly two goals.

El Segundo's win bumped their record up to 10-6-1. As for South, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6-3.

El Segundo came out on top in a nail-biter against South in their previous matchup on January 13th, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
