Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Joplin

Joplin's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 55-46 victory over the Nevada Tigers. The win was all the more spectacular given the Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while the Tigers are ranked 40th).

Joplin's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Nevada, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.

Joplin will be taking part in a tournament against Washburn Rural at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Washburn Rural is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.7 points per game this season. As for Nevada, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Clinton at 7:30 p.m. on January 28th.
