Basketball Recap: Naydia Shaw Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Scott's Branch

Kingstree posted their closest win since January 30, 2024 on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Scott's Branch Eagles 40-37. The Blazers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Kingstree's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Naydia Shaw, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Shaw is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kylee Kelty, who posted five points and seven rebounds.

Kingstree was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Scott's Branch only posted four assists.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trayiona Maxfield, who had ten points. Siara Lundy was another key player, putting up ten points and seven rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Kingstree and bumps their season record up to 9-2. As for Scott's Branch, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Kingstree wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 38-27 victory against Socastee on the 2nd. As for Scott's Branch, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-36 defeat against Crestwood on the 26th.
