Baseball Recap: Hart County Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Adair County, Hart County was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Edmonson County Wildcats 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raiders have posted since April 9th.

Brayden Minor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up nine Ks. He has become a key player for Hart County: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-13-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Austin Martin was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Hart County's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 6-2-1 (and 7-13 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Cayman Martin, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Hart County's victory bumped their record up to 13-15-1. As for Edmonson County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12-1 record this season.

Hart County will venture away from home to face off against Green County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Edmonson County, they will host John Hardin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
