Basketball Recap: Pinole Valley Triumphs

Pinole Valley won the last time they faced De Anza, and Jaylin Reed did his part to make sure it happened again. The Pinole Valley Spartans snuck past the De Anza Dons with a 65-59 win on Monday thanks in part to Reed, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 boards. His evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

De'Ari Simmons was another key player, going 7 of 12 on his way to 17 points and seven assists. Those seven assists gave him a new career-high.

The victory got Pinole Valley back to even at 4-4. As for De Anza, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Pinole Valley will take on Santa Cruz in a tournament on Thursday. As for De Anza, they will take on San Rafael at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025. One thing working in San Rafael's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
