Basketball Recap: Newman AAA Sets Scoring Season-High Against Varsity Opponent

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newman AAA). They walked away with a 92-80 win over Varsity Opponent on Saturday. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with Varsity Opponent recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Quinn Costello had another great game (as he tends to do), shooting 80% from the field to rack up 36 points and eight rebounds. What's more, he also posted an 83% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January. Timmy Bolin was another key player, going 5-for-7 en route to 12 points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

Newman AAA smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Newman AAA's win bumped their record up to 4-0.

Looking ahead, Varsity Opponent won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Newman AA at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. Newman AAA will be paying especially close attention to Varsity Opponent's contest: after Varsity Opponent face off against the Cardinals, they'll take on Newman AAA again at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
