Football Recap: Wilson Takes a Loss

The Wilson Wildcats had to suffer through a 53-17 loss at the hands of the Cerritos Dons. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 772nd, while the Dons are ranked 329th).

Wilson lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Avery Carbone, who picked up 104 receiving yards and one touchdown. He was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 56 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Flegeance III, who threw for 201 yards and a pair of TDs.

Wilson's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Cerritos, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilson will welcome Pomona at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The Wildcats will be up against the Red Devils' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.2 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Cerritos, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Dons will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.25 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
