Baseball Recap: Caliche Has No Trouble Against Peetz

Caliche had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 5-9 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 17-10 margin over the Peetz Bulldogs. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Buffaloes considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Zander Yost was a standout: he went 3-for-6 with seven stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those seven stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Colton Cochran was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Caliche kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

As for Peetz, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

On Peetz's side, Conner Schumacher was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Schumacher has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three runs and one double.

Schumacher wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Parker Reker, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

Caliche wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-8 win against Prairie on the 17th. As for Peetz, they have also already played their next matchup, a 13-3 victory against Briggsdale on the 17th.
