Basketball Recap: Holly Springs Sets Scoring Season-High Against Green Hope

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Holly Springs). They strolled past the Green Hope Falcons with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 78-59. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Golden Hawks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Falcons are ranked 136th).

Holly Springs' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kalaesia Lincoln, who went 7-for-10 on her way to 18 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Nylah Collins, who went 8-for-13 en route to 22 points.

Despite the loss, Green Hope still got an impressive performance from Abigail Brown, who dropped a double-double with 28 points and 17 rebounds. That was a full 47.5% of Green Hope's points, marking the ninth time in a row Brown has posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Iliana Hennegan, who had ten points.

Holly Springs has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-15 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points over those games. As for Green Hope, their record now sits at 17-7.

Looking ahead, Holly Springs won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Apex Friendship at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Apex Friendship will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Holly Springs surely won't give up without a fight. Green Hope does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
