Baseball Recap: Monroe Area Comes Up Short

Monroe Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cherokee Bluff Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-3 last Tuesday.

Kesler Locsin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Grady Hansen also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Monroe Area's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Cherokee Bluff, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cherokee Bluff beat Monroe Area by a score of 5-2 later that day.
