Basketball Recap: Port Charlotte Skates Past Fort Myers with Ease

With a playoff win on the line, Port Charlotte rose to the challenge on Thursday. They really took it to the Fort Myers Green Wave for the full four quarters, racking up a 76-27 victory. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Port Charlotte was led to victory by Hailey Cohen and Jesslymar Santa. Cohen went 9 for 15 to rack up 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals, while Santa went 9 of 19 en route to 21 points and eight boards. That's the most points Santa has posted since back in November of 2024. Maggie Parent was another key player, going 5 for 6 on her way to 10 points.

Port Charlotte was working as a unit and finished the game with 26 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Myers only racked up eight assists.

Fort Myers lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Taylor Hargrove, who put up four points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Skye Douglas, who scored four points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Port Charlotte has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. As for Fort Myers, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-16.

Looking ahead, Port Charlotte will take on North Fort Myers at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Port Charlotte is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season. Fort Myers does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
