Basketball Recap: Derby Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Derby was feeling good fresh off their 79-49 takedown of McPherson on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers fell 59-53 to the Blue Valley Northwest Huskies on Thursday. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Huskies from their previous meeting back in February of 2021.

When it comes to explaining why Derby lost, don't look at Cale Clingan. Despite the final result, he shot 5-for-8 from long range and dropped a double-double with 31 points and 11 boards. Avant Riley was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

Derby's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Blue Valley Northwest, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Coincidentally, Derby and Blue Valley Northwest will both be playing Shawnee Mission Northwest the next time they take the court. The Panthers will head out to face the Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Huskies will host them on Saturday.
