Football Game Preview: Andrean Fighting 59ers vs. Wheeler Bearcats

Andrean has gone a perfect 3-0 against Wheeler recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Fighting 59ers will head out on the road to square off against the Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. Andrean will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Andrean hadn't beaten Lowell on the road since October 11, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them last Friday. The Fighting 59ers took down the Red Devils 19-3.

A big part of Andrean's win came down to the chemistry between Brady Elish and his top target Tyler Vo. Elish rushed for 18 yards and one touchdown while Vo picked up 156 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Those 156 receiving yards gave Vo a new career-high.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Andrean proved: they limited Lowell to a paltry 2.8 yards per carry. While two picked up at least six total tackles, Mitchell Myers stood above the rest. He forced two fumbles and made six total tackles. Andrean hasn't allowed more than 2.7 yards per carry in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Wheeler had no problem doing just that on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Fighting Eagles 70-7. The Bearcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Wheeler found their leader in freshman Andrew Bizzieri, who rushed for 301 yards and six TDs while picking up 18.8 yards per carry. Those 301 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Bizzieri. Keegan Catone made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Wheeler didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Catone and Conner Welch. Catone got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Andrean's record now sits at 8-1. As for Wheeler, their record is now an identical 8-1.

Andrean strolled past Wheeler in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 19-0. Do the Fighting 59ers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bearcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
