Basketball Game Preview: Willmar Cardinals vs. Becker Bulldogs

Willmar and Becker are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Willmar Cardinals are taking a road trip to take on the Becker Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Willmar is looking for their season's first win.

Last Tuesday, Willmar came up short against Brainerd and fell 56-48.

Meanwhile, Becker posted their biggest victory since February 9th on Tuesday. Everything went their way against North Branch as Becker made off with a 90-68 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Bulldogs have posted against the Vikings since February 14, 2020.

Becker's win came from a few key players Willmar will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bryce Paumen, who posted 19 points. Nathan Weiss was another key player, putting up 20 points.

Willmar's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Becker, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Things could have been worse for Willmar, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 76-59 loss to Becker in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Weiss, who went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 25 points.
