Preview: Los Fresnos Falcons vs. Rivera Raiders
Los Fresnos is 9-1 against Rivera since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Los Fresnos Falcons will look to defend their home court against the Rivera Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After a string of four wins, Los Fresnos' good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 54-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Harlingen. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Los Fresnos in their matchups with Harlingen: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their loss, Los Fresnos saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jj Salazar, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Andrew Munoz was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Rivera's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 70-41 loss at the hands of Hanna.
Los Fresnos' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 26-8. As for Rivera, they dropped their record down to 17-13 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Los Fresnos beat Rivera 62-55 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Los Fresnos repeat their success, or does Rivera have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
