Baseball Preview: Greensburg Pirates vs. East Central Trojans

Greensburg hasn't had much luck against East Central recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Pirates will challenge the Trojans at 5:30 p.m. Greensburg will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

While Greensburg's victory against South Dearborn wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Knights on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Pirates have won by just one run.

Ethan Smith made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cy Miller, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.
