The Mountain Pointe Pride will take on the ALA - Gilbert North Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
ALA - Gilbert North will be up against a hot Mountain Pointe team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Pride simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Skyline 48-6. Given the Pride's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Coyotes are ranked 117th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mountain Pointe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kristian Escobedo led the charge by throwing for 207 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 passes. Those 207 passing yards gave Escobedo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Rodriguez, who picked up 114 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Mountain Pointe didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Skyline to a completion percentage of just 40%. The team can thank Julian King for the heroic effort on defense: he. Mountain Pointe has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.6 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.6 in their last three games.
Mountain Pointe didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Andre Burnside and Marleigh Fely. Fely has been hot recently, having also posted six or more total tackles the last four times he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, ALA - Gilbert North humbled Campo Verde with a 42-13 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-7.
ALA - Gilbert North's win came from a few key players Mountain Pointe will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ben Livingston, who threw for 216 yards and four touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 45 yards and one score. ALA - Gilbert North's leading receiver Isaac Massey was Livingston's top target yet again, picking up 100 receiving yards and three TDs.
ALA - Gilbert North's defense made their presence known, laying out Jonah Lubno four times. In that department, Gaven McKinney was the leader with two sacks. ALA - Gilbert North got some further help from Stockton Dye: he forced one fumble, made 11 total tackles, and defended two passes.
ALA - Gilbert North's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Mountain Pointe, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
