Basketball Game Preview: Elk Creek Elks vs. Westwood Lumberjacks

Elk Creek hasn't had much luck against Westwood recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Elk Creek Elks are taking a road trip to challenge the Westwood Lumberjacks at 5:30 p.m.

Elk Creek played against Paradise Adventist Academy and lost via forfeit.

Elk Creek is hoping to do what Providence couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Westwood's winning streak, which now stands at four games. Westwood walked away with a 47-35 win over Providence. While the Lumberjacks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Westwood's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Elk Creek, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Elk Creek took a serious blow against Westwood in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 73-46. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Elk Creek was down 42-17.
