Baseball Game Preview: Liberty Patriots vs. Estacado Matadors

The Liberty Patriots will take on the Estacado Matadors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Liberty comes in on ten and Estacado on four.

Liberty barely beat Levelland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Patriots put the hurt on the Lobos with a sharp 16-10 victory on Thursday. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

Jaidon Eddins looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Levi Walker, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin McPherson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Estacado). Everything went their way against Snyder on Thursday as they made off with a 13-3 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Liberty pushed their record up to 18-8 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Estacado, their victory bumped their record up to 12-14-1.

Liberty was able to grind out a solid win over Estacado in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 9-6. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Matadors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
