Softball Recap: Trinity Christian Academy Triumphs

After only one run in their last game, Trinity Christian Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Peabody on Friday. Trinity Christian Academy had just enough and edged out Peabody 12-11. With that victory, the Lions brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Haley Lewis made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and seven unearned) runs off 13 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylee Hidrogo, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. She also put up a home run, which was her first of the season. Abby Davis was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

Trinity Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Trinity Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Peabody, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Trinity Christian Academy will square off against Jackson North Side at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Peabody, they will challenge Columbia Central at 8:45 a.m. on Monday. Peabody's pitchers better be ready for this one: Columbia Central has averaged an impressive 13.4 runs per game this season.
