Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Northeast Rockets vs. Sioux City East Black Raiders

The Lincoln Northeast Rockets and the Sioux City East Black Raiders will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Lincoln Northeast has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Lincoln Northeast is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Omaha South: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lincoln Northeast blew Omaha South out of the water with a 69-26 final score. The match marked the Rockets' most dominant victory of the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lincoln Northeast to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brynna Renard, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Renard has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last 14 times she's played. Jayla Merrill was another key player, putting up 11 points along with five assists and three steals.

Lincoln Northeast was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Sioux City East had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 60-49 win over the Lynx.

Sioux City East's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Lincoln Northeast, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.
