Softball Recap: Hart's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If Hart was riding high fresh off their 13-6 takedown of Reed City on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kent City Eagles on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 15-9 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Makenna Carrier and Kelsey Copenhaver did some serious damage despite the final result: Carrier went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Copenhaver went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Hart's defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-8. As for Kent City, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

While Hart had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
