George Gilbert posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Wednesday. As a matter of fact, he turned in his biggest game of the season, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Gilbert's strong effort led Miramonte over Mt. Diablo and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Matadors are a perfect 6-0 against the Red Devils going back to April of 2017, a lead they'll look to extend.
