Recap: Ruidoso Warriors vs. Hope Christian Huskies
The Ruidoso Warriors''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hope Christian. Ruidoso was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hope Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Ruidoso's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Connor Holland, who threw for 58 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Tru Camejo, who rushed for 123 yards on only 15 carries.
Hope Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but RJ Montoya led the charge by throwing for 195 yards and three touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Elijah Saiz and his 146 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Hope Christian's win.
Ruidoso's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. As for Hope Christian, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.
Ruidoso will look to defend their home field on Friday against Dexter at 7:00 p.m. Hope Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
