Volleyball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Edwardsville's Third in Last Four Outings

Edwardsville won the last time they faced Lake Park and things went their way on Saturday too. The Tigers came out on top against the Lancers by a score of 2-0.

Ciara Cunningham paced Edwardsville's offense, picking up 15 kills. Cunningham got some help from Savannah Ford and her 20 assists. Eve Eberlin and Madelyn Ohlau kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Despite the loss, Lake Park saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Naila Halilic had 11 digs and three assists.

Edwardsville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-10 record this season. As for Lake Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-22 record this season.

Edwardsville and Lake Park could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Tigers (ranked 67th) will meet Mater Dei (ranked fourth) at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Lake Park will take on St. Charles North at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (329 vs. 5).
