Softball Recap: Butler Bears vs. Bullitt East Chargers
Butler extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-10 in the process. They came up short against the Bullitt East Chargers, falling 15-0. The shutout was out of character for the Bears seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.
As for Bullitt East, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 26-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 contests by six runs or more this season.
For Bullitt East's part, Ryleigh Watrous was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Watrous has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Bullitt East got a massive performance out of Courtney Bass, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Bass a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carly Bryant, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Butler does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bullitt East, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Mercy on the 28th.
