Basketball Game Preview: Montesano Bulldogs vs. Elma Eagles

The Montesano Bulldogs will face off against the Elma Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Friday, Montesano came up short against Aberdeen and fell 51-41.

Meanwhile, Elma beat Hoquiam 66-54 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Montesano better focus on containing Isaac McGaffey and Traden Carter as the pair were huge in Elma's win. McGaffey went 10 of 17 on his way to 23 points in addition to seven rebounds and four blocks, while Carter went 8 for 14 en route to 22 points and five boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which McGaffey has scored at least a third of Elma's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Armani Phan, who went 6 of 10 en route to 12 points.

Elma was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Montesano's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Elma, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.

Montesano strolled past Elma in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a score of 47-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for Montesano since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
